can I turn this S2 into a wifi media player, like ipod touch, with wifi and play store? there is no trade in value($40, last time I checked), so I can read news, play little games, watch some video? I need somehow to turn 2g/3g off so it won't eat up my battery. anyone knows? Thanks.

Deactivate it from Sprint and then there will be no 3g/4g, only Wi-Fi. And yes, you can use this phone as a Wi-Fi Android media player.

Thank you sir. do you know after I deactivate from Sprint, the phone will keep searching for 2G signal(eating my battery), or somehow I can disable the 2G signal? in setting, there is way to disable data/3g, but unable to find how to disable 2G.

After you deactivate it from Sprint you can just put it in airplane mode, then it will not search for a network, and the wireless will still work.

There may be no "trade in" value for the phone, but they are going for an average $80 to $100 on ebay...
