I have a Galaxy SIII and have a problem when it goes into a prolonged (30 minutes or more) sleep mode, it drops the wi-fi connection and I cannot get to the internet or recieve emails. Talked to Samsung advanced support multiple times to no avail. Other forums suggest using *#0011# but all that does is connect to Verizon and tells me I dialed an invalid number. I'm open to any suggestions, atthis point Samsung wants me to do a Factory Reset but frankly I'm skeptical and would prefer not losing all my contacts and data. Thoughts?

That *#0011# code is for wifi power-save mode, which doesn't do what you think it does. In any event, it appears Verizon has disabled it. What you want to do is go into Settings > Wi-Fi, then press the menu soft-key. In the new screen that appears, press Advanced, and then tap "Keep Wi-Fi on during sleep." At the pop-up, select Always. Hit back or the Home key, and it should be okay now.

Thanks Mt. Lucky I appreciate the reply. Unfortuantely I've already been down that path with Samsung and the setting has been rest to "Always" several times but the problem still exists. If the phone goes to sleep for just a few minutes the wi-fi connection is fine, but after an extended sleep +/-30 minutes the Wi-fi connection has to be reestablished. Samsung thinks it may be hardware related (Wi-fi antena) which means I'll likely have to send them the phone for repairs. Next step is a factory reset and accepting I'll likely lose all my saved data.

I'm beginning to think it might be a h/w problem too. Here's a thought before resorting to a factory reset: Try Advanced Wifi Lock… it shouldn't be necessary, but you have nothing to lose.
