Newbie
First of all Hello to all. I have not been in any forums since I was hacking my Dash from T-Mobile. Aging myself but what ever:) I recently ran into a issue with my S3 I have been plugging into my work PC and data transfer and everything was fine and then yesterday my PC stopped reading my phone saying that usb didn't recognize the device. So I downloaded the drivers and still nothing, it is charging so the cable is fine it was working two days ago. is there anyway to get into usb mode or mass storage mode in my phone to make sure it is set correctly? Please help I realize im a Newb to this forum but would appreciate any help you might be able to give. Thx a lot

I have checked the cable it worked as of two days ago but maybe something happened between now and then. thx for the reply. do you know if you can get into the screen that pops up when you plug it into the PC? The select usb or mass storage mode? Without having to plug it in

thx

Hello and welcome to the forums . I see you having a problem with a android device . You say this is your work pc . Can i ask have you tried this device on another pc /laptop . I think that your work place is under security and may have blocked you from using the phone to the server . Cause the drivers are loaded if you can charge. But check the device on another computer / laptop.and maybe ask someone in the IT department .

I don't think you can access the screen you are looking for when plugged in.
However, I remembered someone having a similar issue you are so I went on a search and found this thread.....post 7 in particular.:)

http://androidforums.com/verizon-ga...-make-usb-data-connection-pc.html#post6077458

This jist of which is, he booted his phone into download mode (home/volume down/power) and pulled the battery for a few minutes. Reinsert battery and boot up normally.

Tried and failed :( it still says usb device not recognized. Its like my phone is not sending any kind of signal to the PC. Worked fine the last couple months no issues at all........

What exactly is downloader mode? I left it on for a couple min how long u figure I should leave it in that mode plugged into my PC. Maybe I did not leave it plugged in long enough. thx for your advice as u can see im really out of touch eith this stuff. I stopped when it was just coming through being able to flash BlackBerries on Crickets network

Thx again

Download mode, or as some folks refer to it as ODIN mode, is the mode used when flashing things to the phone with a computer program called ODIN.

Anyways, don't plug the phone in with what we're trying to do.
Unplug the phone, power down, boot into download mode, pull battery for a few, then reinsert battery, then boot up---without being plugged into the computer.

Sorry, I should have clarified:(

If that does not work, I have heard of folks powering the phone down removing battery, removing sim and sd cards, insert battery, power up--let it fully boot up, power down, remove battery, reinsert sim and sd and battery, power up. Plug in and try.

I know, alot to go thru to get this to try and work.:)

Some other suggestions...blow out charging port with "air in a can"

Uninstall all drivers, then reinstall drivers.

Reboot the computer.

I'll post more when I think of them :)
