Galaxy S3 - where to store ringtones

bo910

Lurker
Hi - moving over from iPhone, getting to know (understand) android.

Want: set up personal ringtone

Problem: lots of help online and all say... move the desired mp3 to \system\media\notifications but... can't find a folder "system", can't find a folder "media"

1. Using the built-in 'My-Files' widget, can find a folder (root level) called notifications - it was empty - but I copied my mp3 there anyway.
2. settings-sound-device ringtone only shows the default ringtones and no option to browse for others or other locations
3. settings in my files = show hidden files

please treat the idiot kindly
thx

Greetings bo910,

Welcome to the forums.

On the internal SD card /sdcard, create a folder called Ringtones.

Place your mp3's there. If the phone doesn't automatically see them, try to reboot it.

Hope this helps.
