Help Galaxy S5 NFC and S Beam not working

I've tried restarting my phone. I've tried taking the battery and sim card out. I've looked online for solutions, but nothing. I can't seem to get S Beam or NFC to work with my friends Galaxy S4.

I get the "Beam to device" message and it vibrates when our devices touch, but after she sends something, my phone either doesn't get anything or I get an error that says, "Unable to receive file...Your device does not support S Beam." I can't send anything to her either. She just never gets anything from me, no error for her.

We tried sending Pictures, Websites, Pinterest links, but nothing seems to be working. Anyone know what to do? I have Verizon and she has AT&T. I do NOT have "Beaming Service" in my applications list. I have Android 4.4.4. This phone is about 5 days old. Any help is appreciated. I'm not rooted.

go to: settings >NFC, turn on "Android Beam" (directly above s beam), turn off S Beam, I had this problem too, S Beam overrides the android default if enabled. With S Beam off and Android Beam on i can use NFC to send files back and forth with an LG phone, so Samsung to Samsung should work fine.
