Galaxy S5 screen rotation failure

My Samsung Galaxy S5 screen rotation does not work. I didn't realize this until after I purchased it from someone.
Nothing I do makes it work. I tested also installing one of those pedometer apps, they all fail, because they cannot sense any movement.
So basically this tells me something is broken with my sensor that senses screen rotation or movement.

Is there a possible firmware fix or is this a hardware failure and probably not worth fixing?

I have a T-Mobile SM-G900T - with Android 5.1.1. Just standard Galaxy S5.

Thank you to all in advance!

Try out one of the rotation control apps in the Google Play Store.
If that,a cache partition wipe, &/or a factory reset doesn't clear it up,my guess is you have a hardware failure.........
