Help Galaxy S6 Edge Plus Dies in 30 Min

Hello All,

I'm having a major issue with my brand new Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge Plus from AT&T. Everything was great and I loved the phone until about 2 days ago. Out of nowhere I had absolutely no service and was seeing the circle with line through it, nothing. After a couple of hours I would get 1 or two bars but couldn't text or call. After restarting it 3 to 5 times in different ways (pressing restart, holding the button combo, etc) I finally had 4G LTE service, but then I would lose it.

Ok so I call AT&T and ask them they run some things over the phone reconfigure some stuff until finally....I had service. Great right? Wrong I now have full LTE 4G service but my battery will only last 30 min on a full charge....TOPS. I used to go all day if I didn't play with it, maybe 2 with battery saver mode on. Now with battery saver mode on it lasts 30 min!!!

If I keep it unlocked and look at it, I can just watch the battery percentage drop. So I did a master reset (deleted everything) and removed ALL apps but I have the same issue.

Any ideas? It seems as if my phone is working extra hard now to get the signal and maybe AT&T only shifted the problem, causing my phone to work over time.

Please let me know if you've ever heard of this or have any suggestions? I know the obvious which is go into my store and get a replacment, but I was curious if any of you phone nerds had any ideas before I took that step to mail it in....wait for replacement, etc.

Thanks!

If your phone is constantly searching for signal it will kill the battery super super fast but you say you have full service now and the battery is still dying fast.

Whenever I buy something that has a rechargeable battery I cycle the battery at least 3 times before pulling it off the charger at random times. Fully charge it while the phone is off, and then don't charge it again until it dies, and charge it off fully again. Do this pattern 3 times.

Like Lod said, do a factory reset, and I would do it first before you cycle the battery a few times. You can also download a battery repair app that will fix any bad cells.

https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.Abhijay.batteryfixfree

Do a factory reset, run that app, and then cycle the battery 3 times.

let us know if the problem persists.

Your kidding right? Have you actually read the description of that app? Haha, it's completely bogus, haha.

This is directly from the app description :

The idea of this application started when we were testing smartphones and realised that they often never last more than one day. We thought, what if we create an application that simulates a full repair of your battery, would it really convince the user that it works? We tested this with a small subset of our users... and noticed that users were actually experiencing an improvement of battery life. And this only thanks to their strong belief in the effectivity of this application. After telling them it was a simulation... They could not believe it.

Seemed to help my S3, and he doesn't HAVE to use that one. He could use a bunch of others. Was just an example really. Also, instead of coming in and bashing something maybe come in and help the guy.
