Help Galaxy S6 randomly loses sound.

Gargus

Newbie
I have a galaxy s6 from verizon, the 32gb model. It has the newest android system update installed. I dont have any mods, or any system altering apps on it.

It will randomly lose all sounds. Text alerts, phone calls, games, everything that has sound to it wont play. I still see the phone light up and shows I have a call but the ringer wont play, I can see when I get a text but no notification, games play fine but no music/sound. Everything works fine, I just lose sound.

When I restart the phone then everything works fine again, but then I will go back to the phone and see I missed a call/text and find out Im not getting any sound again.

I tried clearing cache/data on everything, checked for updated android system update, turned off/on, reset, turned off all the apps running and so on.

From hanging around here for quite some time I can tell you that a lot of people would say that when all else fails try a factory reset and see if that helps. Just make sure you back up any and all stuff like pics and music that you want to save. Good luck, Vin.

I need to echo Gargus' complaint. It is strange. I will be in the middle of a game or texting or video and the sound will suddenly go near silent and sometimes silent altogether and will be quiet for some moments to several minutes and then return to normal.
I don't restart the phone and I think factory resetting it is a rather drastic step to take.
I'd prefer to know why this happens and what may cause it before resetting the device.
Anyone else have some ideas?
