Galaxy S7 Battery Drain Issues

Hi,

My Galaxy S7 seems to die very quickly. I use it specifically during the day in high school and from 6:00 to about the time I get out to class at 2:30 the phone is at around 20-30% unless I charge it during class, which I do. I can also physically feel my phone get hotter, and my phone tends to stutter and lag quite frequently. I've attached screenshots of my battery page in settings. Hopefully someone can help, or can relate to the issue.

Thanks,
Alex

Having exactly the same issue but unfortunately I can't give a solution. Let me know if you find one.

Thanks James

The fact that you can feel your S7 heat up throughout the day is an indicator there's something going on in the background. With Snapchat being at the top with 11% that can probably be ruled out and even with the screen showing only 6% that indicates you're using your phone pretty moderately while at school. (Lighting the display is typically a big drain no matter if you're actively using any apps or just idly staring at it.)

Has this battery drain issue been a long standing on or has it just started recently?
Of course the first thing when diagnosing any problem is to restart your phone, and if you haven't done this as you're restarting it you might want to also reboot your S7 into its Recovery Mode and wipe the system cache partition. Clearing the system cache is a non-destructive task as it has no effect on any data you've saved on your phone, nor does it delete anything vital to the operating system (cache files being temporary and automatically replaceable). Anyway, the system cache is not accessible to the general user so you can't do this using the Settings menu, it needs to be done while running in Recovery Mode. Note that this is a text only interface so you need to use the indicated buttons (shown at the bottom of the screen) to navigate through the various options. To access Recovery Mode restart and simultaneously hold down the Volume Up, the Home, and the Power buttons, and then select the 'wipe cache partition'. This should only take a few seconds so when done just restart normally.
This is a common practice after your phone has done something like apply a version upgrade as sometimes some corrupt file in the system cache doesn't get deleted properly so manually clearing it might help.

Another thing to look into is if you go back to your Settings >> Battery, if you tap on that little three vertical dots icon in the top right, is there a 'Battery optimization' option? If you tap on it that should open up a window listing your installed apps, and then you can select which apps you prefer to use Android's 'Doze' feature.

I have a Galaxy S5 and was having Battery Draining Issue due to "Location" I Have 3 different settings (HIGH ACCURACY which uses GPS, WiFi and Mobile Networks, POWER SAVING which uses WiFi and Mobile Networks, GPS ONLY which only uses GPS). My Phone was set to High Accuracy. I put it to GPS Only and Now I do not have a problem with my Phone Drainging Fast. Hope this helps. Oh I went to Settings, Location, Mode. I'm sure it will be different with the Galaxy S7 but just find your location settings. Good luck.

I found recently that having my screen set to auto brightness led to my battery draining a lot quicker even though i had thought it would have the opposite effect.
