There's been reported cases of that. Most of what I've seen is on the gold and silver models. AFAIK you'd want a new home button with that, so you have to send it into service. No idea if your warranty covers it.
Oh man, didn't need to see that. Does it affect the thumbprint detection or is it just some paint/coating and that's all? I have the gold version as does my daughter.
It's just a coating, it shouldn't affect the fingerprint reader. Mine is also gold but a yr old nearly and there is no sign of any wear on the home button, i'm lucky i guess.
