Galaxy S7--screen rotates for no reason

Jack Taub

Lurker
Sometimes when using an app the screen rotates from portrait to landscape mode, even though I have not rotated the phone. When I rotate the phone to try to move the display back to portrait mode, it fails to change the screen. Does anyone know why this happens and how to fix this problem?
By the way, it's not the 'Edge' model, it's the regular Galaxy S7 that I bought from Verizon.
I would appreciate your advice!

Certain apps are designed to only run in landscape mode, and so they will rotate the usually portrait mode screen on a phone. Sometimes if you're using an app that's specifically designed for tablets it will do it. Many games will only run in landscape mode.

What particular apps are doing this on your S7?

Hi Mike,
It had happened with phone app that was pre-installed in the phone. Also it happened with Chrome when I opened a web page that initially displayed in portrait and after a couple of minutes suddenly flipped to landscape.
