Galaxy S8 - How to force reboot / restart

In the event your Galaxy S8 becomes frozen or unresponsive, you can always force it to restart by following these steps.

Hold down the Power button and Volume Down button at the same time for about 8 seconds until until the display turns off, the phone vibrates and the the Samsung Galaxy S8 start up screen appears.

At that point you can let go of the buttons and the phone will boot up normally.

This answer is based on a phone that is on. Is there a restart process for a phone that turned itself off randomly, and won't come back on?

sounds like a warranty claim..... (or at least a visit to the phone store)
