Galaxy Tab 2 software update

I was barely able to use my newer tablet when I updated the Samsung software last week. I was using a book to learn.
Now, everything is different. One window is full of apps that I don't use. The home window automatically shows local weather and the Music Hub next to it. Google search below.
Is there a way to delete unwanted apps like Chat?
