Galaxy Tab S 10.5 doesn't charge to 100%??

hi there.
i bought a brand new Galaxy Tab S 10.5, ive been charging it overnight. on the screen i always see that it is at 100%(while the device is off).
as soon as i unplug the charger and turn the device on, battery drops down to 99%.
however, as soon as i reconnect the charger while the device is on, it then charges to 100% and stays on 100% for a bit after some use.

just wondering if others have the same issue? or if its normal for it to not charge/stay on 100%?

and also how quick do others devices drop down from fully charged to 98 or 97%? because mine seems to last just a few minutes between the full charge-97%, when its updating apps and receiving notifications once I turn it on.

Depends on what's running in the background. Downloading updates actually does use up battery quite a bit, especially if it's large ones.

well there isn't much running in the background. checked it using task manager.
i only have basic apps running on the tab.
is it normal for it to not charge/stay on 100% though?

Well, considering its actively downloading an update, I'd think it may use the battery a bit. Although it is new. Li Ion batteries need a few cycles of charge and discharge before they get to full potential. So give it a week, and note the full time lapse of the battery from 100 to 15.

When connected to a charger it charges to 100% and then shuts off to protect the battery. It will then start to discharge. When it reaches a predefined limit (96% for some) it will start to charge again.

It is pretty common to see a battery fresh off the charger report 98%, 99%, or 100%.
