Query:
Contacted Verizon about activating my S4 on a prepaid plan thinking it wouldnt be an issue, Seeing as how I've activated smart phones that were bought thru a contract as prepaid plans after initial purchase. Well they informed me that 4g LTE phones are not available for prepaid plans. Will this change anytime in the near future?

It's hard to tell. My understanding is they want to begin transitioning to VoLTE (Voice over LTE) this year so they can free up the bantdwidth using 3G CDMA to be used with the more efficient 4G signals. In order to do that, they would need to either shut down prepaid or enable it on the 4G network.:dontknow:

Sounds like the person you talked to was not up to date, Verizon started accepting 4G LTE phones on their ALLSET prepaid service two weeks ago:

Is the phone still on a contract or you now own it outright and the contract has ended? If it's still under contract they won't let you use it for prepaid.

Very helpful. And yeah it's mine now. Contract ran it and I bought it from my sister. it was about then when I called. they should've at least told me the option was coming soon.
