Help Gallery Deletes Photos

I am having an issue with the Note 8 deleting my photos in the Gallery app. Luckily, my phone also saves to Google Photos, so I haven't technically lost anything. Had anyone else experienced this? Could the issue be that it's also saving to Google Photos?

DO you have a MicroSD Card in?

Try looking on it with a file browser maybe?

I do not use a MicroSd card. I've looked all through the files, and have been unable to find anything.

Your gallery app is a photo/ video viewer.
Once you hit delete, it's off the phone.
Luckily Google photos had your back.

That would make sense, but I never deleted the photos out of the Gallery.

If the photos are being deleted from your gallery without you manually doing it, it's possible you've pressed the 'free up space' option in Google phots.

Basically once in a while a notification will pop up asking if you want to free up space in your phone, if pressed and confirmed, Google photos will delete all pictures -that have been backed up to gphotos- of your phone
