Gallery thumbnail

Can you delete the thumbnails without erasing them off of your phone?  I'm  trying to  make  more  storage  space on my HTC desire  530  and I was just  wondering if I deleted the thumbnails  if that would delete the photos out of my gallery and off  of my  phone?

Odd question.. you could just move them out of their default folder and pretend you deleted them and then move them back once you want to undelete them.
