Help Gallery video Preview is not persistent

Hello,

I am using samsung a70 and I am not able to understand the strange behavior of gallery with respect to video.
I have switched from iphone to andriod.
For example, there are videos in the gallery and when I open the gallery and go to a certain folder having videos and click on any video, it start the preview. the video start playing with out sound which is absolutely fine and I love it but the problem come some times it shows preview and some times it does not.
I am not able to find why there is inconsistency. What are the factory involve in this in-consistency.
I don't like this inconsistency.
Can any one please explain this.

I found that some video formats are not compatible with certain features of the stock gallery or video apps.

That is only one reason that I always recommend a third party app/s to ensure that all video/picture formats are supported.

Simple Mobile Tools (on F-Droid) makes an excellent Gallery Pro app that plays most videos and pictures.

For the ones that are still incompatible, I use X-Player (on Apk Pure or UpToDown).

Are you referring to various videos within a single folder. or do videos in one folder autoplay but videos in other folders do not? I'm not sure of the gallery settings on the A70, but is it possible you may have to set autoplay options for each folder in the gallery? Just a thought

It really does not matter which folder. The same video will have preview one time and the other time it does not have the preview. There are I think two bugs for now.
1. i mentioned

Only YOUR Android phone, Mohsin, because mine isn't doing that. I have never owned a device that behaved that way. It's possible that some other app MAY be interfering with playback; or that conflicting settings may be fighting over playback; or a random bit is stuck in the wrong place. If you are near a carrier store, or a Samsung Experience location, you may want to seek guidance from someone who can look at your phone, see what you are seeing, and suggest a correct fix.

No... As @The_Chief said so well, you're having these issues; Android, and its billions of users, are not.

You've referred to using 'gallery'--but which gallery app is it exactly? Unlike iPhones, Android is made by many companies, on hundreds (thousands?) of devices, each with its own distinct features and pre-installed apps. The 'gallery' you're using could be a Samsung-only app or it could be a generic Android app. (I'm assuming it's not a third-party app that you added.) If you can tell us its actual name, that would help.

As for the inconsistencies you're seeing, they could be due to any number of possible reasons. Since I've never experienced this myself, it's hard to troubleshoot, but I think the most logical starting point is the gallery's settings. Check them to see if there's anything that may be causing that behavior.

Personally, I don't use many stock apps; I prefer to peruse the Play Store, looking for apps that suit my personal preferences. I highly recommend that you do the same. Also by preference, I basically only use paid apps, and recommend doing that, too. My gallery app is F-Stop Gallery Pro ($4.99), which you can see if you like by using its free version first. Its handling of videos never varies [for me]; this is how it looks when I enter a directory of videos:

As you can see, I can set its default behavior if I choose to.

Again, that may be a setting [that gets changed] or it could be intentional [for some reason], but if you use a good media player, this shouldn't happen. From within F-Stop, I can choose whether to use its built-in player or a separate player. Trying a different player might be all you need. My personal favorite is VLC. I've used it on real Linux since its inception, and it's one of the few free Android apps I recommend. I do so because it's open-source, and it does not contain ads.

Also, running apps in the background can hog memory. Users generally have little control over this, as the OS takes care of it.

But sometimes the priorities of the OS and the user are different.

This can affect things like the thumbnail playback.
Actually, if you wish to improve battery life and memory usage (improving device performance) then if there is an option to turn this feature off then you should do so. This is like you helping your OS, rather than arguing with it.

Second, different videos are recorded at different frame rates.

That means that some videos have more frames per second than others.

This can easily be the cause of the difference you see when using the control bar to scan within a video.

If you continue to have these difficulties, why not ditch the stock app- which is usually not a great app to begin with- and upgrade to a better one?

This is what makes Android so great, the fact that you can upgrade the parts that you don't like and make the device do what you want it to do.

You have the control.
You just have to use it.

The vast majority of stock video and gallery apps are only there to get a new user by until they find something better.

My personal suggestions would be to try these three apps and see for yourself if any or all of them are superior to the stock app(s) on your device.
