Help Gallery VS Photos and what is Gallery Cache

My wife & I cannot understand the difference between the Gallery & Photos app. She has very little in her Gallery, but most of her photos are in the Photos app. What is the difference between these & is there a way to move the pics from one to the other?

Also the Gallery cache has me confused. Hers shows something like 115 items. I go into manage apps, clear the cache, but it still shows the same amount of items. I don't get it?

Any enlightenment appreciated.

Gallery uses a list created my the media scanner that runs when you turn your phone on. If you clear its cache, that same list will still be generated the next time you turn your phone on. I don't have the Photos app, so I can't tell you where it gets its list from. (You can't move pictures to or from "Gallery", since there's no such place - Gallery is your entire phone.)
