Game app no longer on Play Store

UPDATE: I have found a solution. Moderator "kate" recommended a file manager app that worked.

Hello. I have an old game on my Samsung S9+ called "Necto". I enjoy playing it from time to time. The game is no longer available in the app store, but it still works fine on my phone. My phone is almost 4 years old, and I am probably going to start thinking about a new one in the near future. Since the maker of the game has taken it off of the play store, is there any way I could put it on a new phone? (Again, I'm only asking now for the info. I haven't bought a new phone yet, but sooner or later I obviously will.)

Thank you for any advice.

EDIT: The game was made by a company (or person) using the name "Fat Pingu". It's hard to catch, because it only flashes very quickly when the game first opens, but the logo is a cartoon penguin eating a fish while using a cell phone/tablet.

It seems an app of that name can be found at apkpure, which is a pretty safe download site. Other sites I'd generally consider safe don't seem to have it.
Thank you for the reply. Unfortunately, that isn't the same game. The one I am referring to was made by a company (?) called "Fat Pingu", and their logo is a cartoon penguin using a cell phone. I think I will add that info to my original post. Thank you again.

It's possible to get the APK file for the game from your phone. You can use ADB to copy it to your computer, or some backup/file explorer apps can copy installed APK files.

This is assuming the game is free. Also if it's a large game with a separate OBB file I'm not sure if it will work.

Thank you for the tip, Kate. At the risk of sounding unappreciative, or maybe even being laughed at a little on a tech forum like this one, I have to be honest with you. I don't work with computers. I'm a metal fabricator who works in a welding shop. I looked up ADB, and I think that might be getting a bit out of my league. (What the heck are "Developer Options??") I was hoping maybe there was a simpler solution for a "non-I.T." person like me.

Now, you did mention that there are some apps that can do it. Perhaps I will get lucky, and someone will be able to advise me of one. P.S.: I don't remember if it was free, but it never had ads. I MIGHT have gotten it during one of those promotional "free app sales". Also, I've seen OBB folders in my file explorer, and the ones on my phone are all named obviously after other apps, not Necto. (However, I don't have the first clue what an OBB file is!)

So again, thank you for taking your time to offer your advice.

Sure, this is one that has the ability:
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.alphainventor.filemanager

Open it, tap on Apps, tap and hold the app to copy, then tap Backup. It will save the APK file in a backup folder on your main storage. Then copy it to your new phone and install it.

However, I don't have the first clue what an OBB file is
Small sized apps in the Play Store come as a single APK file. Large apps, usually games, will include a second file to download the extra data and those are OBB files.

You can also use an app to copy APK files, this is one that has the ability:

Open it, tap on Apps, tap and hold the app to copy, then tap Backup. It will save the APK file in a backup folder on your main storage. Then copy it to your new phone and install it.
A quick reply for you, Kate, because I just happen to be using my computer at the moment. That sounds much more like "my speed"! I will try it out. Thank you once again.

Hi Kate- It worked! I have an old phone (no SIM card) I use as a Bluetooth MP3 player for a portable speaker I use out in my yard. I was able to install the APK, and the game opens and plays!

I owe you yet another thank you. Thank you! I will be logging out of this thread now.

A much more simple method.

Yes, I know that this issue is 'solved', but this can come in handy.

https://f-droid.org/en/packages/axp.tool.apkextractor/

This app makes it super easy to extract the apk of any app on your device.

It can then be found as follows:

File Manager (whatever one you use)
Downloads
Apks

Find the apk of the app, and long press it.

When the menu appears, choose share.

Now share it with whatever you want to use to send the app to the other device.

Personally, I use NitroShare.
Put NitroShare on both devices, set it up, and it is fast and easy over wi-fi.
