Read the "subtext" towards the end of the article:

"The game is due for release in Q2 2011 and will be exclusive on the Xperia PLAY for 1-month."

They would be really stupid to make a mobile game for one device for several reasons. Two that come to mind is that it is a phone first, then a gaming consol, so not everyone will get one. Second, even if everyone wanted one they wouldn't be able to get it because of carrier limitations and/or cost.

The game does look really cool though, and the graphics amazing.

but the non-xperia Play version probably wouldn't support physical controls. I'm surprised that it didn't occur to samsung, motorola, etc to come out with a phone with similar controls.

I'm not. Sony is the only manufacturer that also makes game systems. If the xperia play does well we may see more phones geared towards gaming.

I guess. It took this long for someone to finally come up with a good keyboard (the new sidekick has a 5 row staggered keyboard with space between the keys) since the original g1.
