GeekBench4: Relevance to casual user?

Specifically: if a Samsung Note 8's Geekbench 4 "Compute" score is 7,500 will I perceive a significant increase in speed of switching between/loading applications compared to my Note 4, whose score is 2,500?

We are not talking gaming or videos here - mainly loading and switching between applications.

Most of the times the scores actually reveal about the performance, the loading and switching times are also affected though. So in short, YES!

Honestly, the key here is perception. When I switched from a Note 2 to an S7E, didn't really think much of it other than gaming was smoother and looked better. I initially didn't really notice much difference from the day to day use. Until I set up the Note 2 again because my mom wanted to use it that time, and I was like, was it really this slow before? I didn't remember it to be this slow. But there really was no issue with it. It really was just that slow. I didn't really notice the increased speed until I actually compared.

Seconded: I turned my old HTC One (M7) on the other week and honestly didn't remember it being that slow when it was my daily driver.

For a newer phone I'd think that the faster storage of modern phones would make a difference to app loading, at least for large apps.

I am literally doing that right now for my mother...

The note ii is a significant step up from her old device, so shes seeing it doing everything quickly... But im seeing it as much slower than my pixel.

Now to introduce her to google photos
