Gelatin screen protector?

So I've been looking for a good screen protector for the note8, so I asked at stores and they told me about the gelatin screen protector.
They said it would protect from drops, and that it's better than tempered glass, but it looks quite thin so I'm skeptical.
Have you ever tried it? If you did, was it good?

If you mean a plastic film, well it's an extra layer so it will provide some protection against impact. It won't feel like glass, and whether it will provide better impact protection than a glass protector (which tend to shatter or crack rather than the screen beneath doing so) is debateable. But it will be cheaper, and easier to get a good fit with the curved screen.

Neither will prevent the screen breaking in a bad fall. Both are better than nothing. Stores will tend to recommend what they are selling.

Honestly I'm not sure if it's the same as the plastic flim, the store said they heat it up after applying it to the phone I'm guessing so it sticks well,and it's not as cheap as I would expect a plastic film to be...
I don't trust stores either, but finding a good screen protector for this phone is giving me a headache so I thought I'd try asking🙆
