Enable developer mode on the M9 which allows additional options like disabling sleep while charging and other options like high performance mode.
Menu --> Settings --> About --> Software Information --> More
Locate "build number". Tap the build # several times until a message appears on the display with "developer options unlocked "
Now you can find the developer options in the settings menu towards the bottom of settings menu.

From the helpful @EarlyMon corner:
If nuplayer is checked (under developer options) , uncheck and reboot.
It's supposed to be the new thing in streaming html content (content not just media).
For reasons unknown it seems to bork a lot of things and apps.
Turned on under the hood for the M8 5.0.1 Lollipop because Google did.
Google has it off for 5.1 until whatever gets sorted.
No idea if this tip matters, no idea if the M9 5.0.1 has it turned on.
If on, turn off.
Does not require root.
Does not affect warranty.
