Hi all, I made these two following videoguides to show how to get more apps from Android Market.
I had already explained, step by step, how to do here: http://androidforums.com/google-tv/408166-geniatech-enjoy-tv-20.html#post3990926
...but I thought that it could be more interesting to show, visually, all passages.
The first videoguide shows how to get those apps (as for example: facebook and tweetdeck)
missing due to lack of right permissions: Full Access to Android Market: permissions trick (Geniatech ATV1000) - YouTube
This is the link to folder, that I called "full_permissions", which gathers many more
permissions than original: full_permissions.zip
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
The second videoguide shows how to get those apps (as for example wealth tv)
missing due to a not performing fingerprint: Full Access to Android Market: fingerprint trick (Geniatech ATV1000) - YouTube
This is fingerprint to use:
ro.build.fingerprint=verizon_wwe/htc_mecha/mecha:2.3.4/GRJ22/206244.9:user/release-keys
Please, any reply inside main thread "Geniatech Enjoy Tv"
Hi retspan, ziczac, cajen and everyone...
I updated my firmware to latest 20120111 release and after various trials,
I have found the solution for a correct upgrade of permissions folder and
fingerprint, also on ATV1000 with 2.3.4 release.
Pratically, using the same "permissions" folder and fingerprint line, we must
follow a different procedure...
First of all we must go to ---> Settings ---> Applications ---> Manage applications
---> All ---> GoogleServicesFramework ---> Clear data and Force stop (back) --->
Market ---> Clear cache and Force stop ---> (back home)
Then we enter Rootexplorer ---> go to: /mnt/sda/sda1 and copy "full_permissions" folder
from pendrive (long press on left click) ---> go back to: /system/etc ---> click on "Mount R/W"
---> rename original "permissions" folder (for example to: permissions_backup) --->
paste "full_permissions" and rename it to "permissions" ---> give same attributes of original folder
---> (back to the root)
Now we edit build.prop and change original fingerprint line:
so, we go to: /system ---> we open build.prop using text editor (long left click on file)
---> delete original fingerprint line:
ro.build.fingerprint=MBX/stvm3/stvm3:2.3.4/20111212/20111212.163332:user/test-keys
and insert new fingerprint line:
ro.build.fingerprint=verizon_wwe/htc_mecha/mecha:2.3.4/GRJ22/206244.9:user/release-keys
(automatically, a backup copy of build.prop will be created)
Remaining in: /system ---> we enter "app" folder and (temporarily) uninstall GoogleServicesFramework.apk
(we can do that renaming it, as for example, to: GoogleServicesFramework.apk1 ...if we check and go to:
Settings ---> Applications ---> Manage applications ---> All
we don't find the application)
then rename again: GoogleServicesFramework.apk1 to GoogleServicesFramework.apk ---> (back home)
(This last passage makes the difference and resolves all difficulties with internet connection)
At this point, we reboot device, enter Market, insert our Google account and a more
complete Market will be there for us!!
So we will find missing apps like facebook, tweetdeck and more...
Referring to everyone would try this method, I can say that I'm not responsable for everything could happen
(I suggest a previous backup of data and apps)
In the next days, I will make a video guide, to show visually all passages
Edit:
For more working apps, you must add this missing file: com.google.android.maps.jar
to "framework" folder in: /system/framework and change its permissions to rw-r-r
For more compatibility, I suggest to use this fingerprint line:
ro.build.fingerprint=verizon_wwe/htc_mecha/mecha:2.3.4/GRJ22/206244.9:user/release-keys
(if you have a 2.2 "froyo" firmware release)
and this fingerprint line:
ro.build.fingerprint=google/passion/passion:2.3.4/GRJ22/121341:user/release-keys
(if you have a 2.3 "gingerbread" firmware release)
More fingerprint lines here: Google Nexus One - OpenGL ES performance and system information
(go to --> "Browse the GLBenchmark"--> choose your device --> (ok) --> "System Information" -->
scroll down to --> "android.os.Build.Fingerprint" --> choose your fingerprint line to test)
If your market release is 3.4.4 or superior, you must remove this file: android.hardware.nfc.xml
from "permissions" folder in: /system/etc
Hi vikidroid, I don't know the reason, but surely you should solve giving a complete wipe and reinstalling again your firmware.
I suggest not to add marketupdater.apk in: /system/app (it will cause the update to google play).
In the meantime, continuing my tests, I modified this update file: update_google-play_3.4.6.zip
and I created, just for you and all users, three different update.zip packages:
update_full-access-to-market.zip:
update_full-access-to-market.zip
update_market_1.82.zip:
update_market_1.82.zip
update_market_2.3.6.zip:
update_market_2.3.6.zip
which, easily and quickly (in recovery mode), allow us to install different markets (1.82 or 2.3.6)
and give us access to a more complete market.
So, if you want, you can also try to upgrade using update_market_2.3.6.zip
and update_full-access-to-market.zip.
Rename them to update.img and install as usual.
Let me know...
Edit:
These packages are specific for 2.3.4 Gingerbread releases, don't use them for ICS.
*(If Google Play Store is your inbuilt market, then, after the update to 1.82 or 2.3.6, you must go to:
Settings --> Applications --> Manage applications --> All --> Google Play Store and click:
Clear data & cache --> Force stop --> Uninstall updates)

-how to modify and make custom rom (android v2.x.x to 4.x.x)
Hi vikidroid, skull and all guys of forum...
I have good...great news!!
I was able to modify, successfully, our 20120111 firmware release so that,
I could apply permissions and fingerprint tricks, com.google.android.maps.jar file,
remove some apps and add other ones.
The error in recovery mode, was due to a not correct signature...
pratically, we must always delete these files: CERT.RSA, CERT.SF, MANIFEST.MF
in: /META-INF
after that, we can make our changes (add or remove apps or other...)
I used Update.Zip Manager 3.0 (by Daneshm90), which is a script tool that permits to create
and modify update.zip files (it has many more functionalities that I haven't tested yet...).
It's necessary Java installed, on your PC: Download Free Java Software
Winrar or 7-zip, and Update.Zip Manager 3.0: http://dl.dropbox.com/u/14513610/Update-Zip-Packager.zip
I made a video of my testing: http://androidforums.com/4170661-post12.html
