Geolocation question

Is there another method without using Google Latitude ; i wanna just detect the location

If you mean you want to "just detect the location" without that person's cooperation or knowledge, that is not possible without his/her GPS switched on and something like Latitude or FourSquare running on his/her phone.

No ; I don't wanna create something illegal
but latitude give us the whole package (location + mapping)
for me i want just location (GeoPoint)

i want just location (GeoPoint)

If you want somebody else's geo location you need to 1) ask them, they need to 2) agree, they need to 3) run a GPS app, and they need to 4) actually send you their coordinates.

In other words: you need their full cooperation.
Unless you join law enforcement.

I have their coorperation
so how can they send me their location via wifi or gps
Not too sure exactly what you are after.

However, if you just require their GPS co-ordinates they could install, free from the Market, an app called GPS Status.

This is a self contained app that defines your location and under Menu > Share they can then send you the precise co-ordinates of their location via a text...

"I am here. **.**.*** N ***.*** W"

Plus it also includes a link for you to view that location in either Google Maps on your phone or on Google Maps via your web browser.

It does not require either you, or the other party, to use the Google Maps on the handset.

Hope this helps. :D

They have to be running an application of some sort on their phone, which sends the co-ords to you. No other way AFAIK.

Any particular reason why you don't want to be using Latitude?
