Gesture controlled brightness toggle?

Hello,

I'm operating a Note5, not rooted.

Have Tasker and Autovoice, not secure settings.

What I am liking to do is have the display brightness toggle between 0%, 33%, 66% and 99% when I use the gesture (shake left to right)

Any insight to this would be great.

Thank you.

Welcome to Android Forums.

This does not do what you outline but it should get you started ...

Profile: tlaShake
Event: Shake [ Axis:Left-Right Sensitivity:Medium Duration:Medium ]
Enter: AAAA
A1: [X] Stop [ With Error:Off Task: ]
A2: Display Brightness [ Level:0 Disable Safeguard:Off Ignore Current Level:On Immediate Effect:Off ]
A3: Wait [ MS:0 Seconds:4 Minutes:0 Hours:0 Days:0 ]
A4: Display Brightness [ Level:84 Disable Safeguard:Off Ignore Current Level:On Immediate Effect:Off ]
A5: Wait [ MS:0 Seconds:4 Minutes:0 Hours:0 Days:0 ]
A6: Display Brightness [ Level:168 Disable Safeguard:Off Ignore Current Level:On Immediate Effect:Off ]
A7: Wait [ MS:0 Seconds:4 Minutes:0 Hours:0 Days:0 ]
A8: Display Brightness [ Level:255 Disable Safeguard:Off Ignore Current Level:On Immediate Effect:Off ]
A9: Wait [ MS:0 Seconds:4 Minutes:0 Hours:0 Days:0 ]

That is the Task that is invoked when the Profile condition is met. AAAA is an arbitrary Task name.

My recommendation on how to learn Tasker. Tasker is rather complex. Start out simple and nibble away at it making tweaks and extensions. You will learn more and more as time goes on and enhancements are made.

Fir this one on my Droid Turbo 2 ... the shake is interrupted by the standard Turbo 2 camera that is launched the same way.

Got it.....

I'm still learning the slang.

Built the string as you have stated above but when I test it, it will not go past A1. If I remove A1 (stop) it just cycles through the brightness levels every 4 seconds until it reaches max brightness.

Thanks for pointing me in the right direction, I have figured it out.

Here it is: Toggle Display brightness via Event: Shake Device left and right

A1: GOTO; a5 if %bright = 255
A2: GOTO; a5 if %bright = 168
A3: GOTO; a5 if %bright = 84
A4: GOTO; a5 if %bright = 42
A5: Display Brightness level 168
A6: Task:stop
A7: Display Brightness level 84
A8: Task:stop
A9: Display Brightness Level 42
A10: Task:stop
A11: Display Brightness level 255
A12: Task:stop

Thanks Thom, You are awesome!

oh and just a heads up.....I had to create 12 stop tasks first....then go back and edit them as I could not create a GOTO action without having the action it was going to go to already made....if that makes any sense at all. @.@
