Gesture or shorthand keyboard?

Back in my Palm days, I got pretty good at using the Palm shorthand for entering text.

I'm pretty sure that a similar "shorthand keyboard" would work out well on the Android phones, but I haven't seen any apps that will replace the keyboard with a "shorthand" pad.

Anyone know of an app that does this?

I like Swype a lot. I'm not sure it's being distributed yet. I think it's in closed beta. I found an .apk file somewhere on the Net. There's one called Shapewriter Keyboard in the Market which appears to be similar to Swype.
