Get rid of online status icons in text message app

Hi, How do I get rid of the online status icons (green dot, orange clock, busy sign) that appear next to my conversations/contacts in the text messaging app on the Galaxy 3S. I understand this is related to *their* gtalk status.... but I want to remove it from my view... Possible?
