Get through college security WIFI?

Hi, I'm currently living in a college dorm and am trying to get WIFI on my Droid 2. When I get on the network on my laptop, a link opens that takes me to a secure page that the school runs that lets me use my college ID number and password to log onto the network. This page even popped up on my ipod touch, but nothing pops up on my Droid. Does anyone have any ideas to get this to work?

Go into your wifi settings, and from there, it should scan all open wifi ports (if not, hit Menu, and there will be a "Scan"). Once it scans and finds your school's wifi, choose that and it will ask you for the network key

There's an app for this, but I don't remember what it's called. Search the market for wifi security, there's an app specifically for logging into wifis that use a login page.

Ok well I've been trying to log into the network and it just keeps disconnecting. I looked for an app to help me, but could only find scanners and such, you dont remember what the program was called?

I don't think he's talking about logging on to the network. Often times universities have unsecured networks that any and all devices can connect to--but in order to have ANY data transfer, you have to login using your ID and password from the school. If you try to visit a web page before logging in, your are redirected to the login page immediately.

erraticarsonist, have you tried opening the browser? Sounds like a silly question, but I feel like something would pop up there (especially if you use Firefox and set your location to a be recognized as a desktop browser). If not, that app that NiceGuysFinishLast is talking about should do the trick, though I can't remember what it's called either.

At my school, you just have to open the browser once you connect to the network and it prompts you for a username and password.

Yeah same here...open the browser and it has my colleges name
and ask for the username and password(generally the same username
you have to use if you want to use school computer or the part of your
email address(before the domain)

Try turning off the pop up blocker just for this one time. Perhaps the browser tries to open a new window to take you to the log-in screen.

Yeah, it's unsecured and you can log into it without putting in username/pass, but it'll just give you a signal with no internet.

I did that with my laptop and ipod touch, but the Droid didn't do it.

Thanks so much! This worked perfectly, no glitches or anything, awesome little app. +1
