Root Getting 2.2 on Zio?

I heard Sprint is going to be releasing the Zio with 2.2 on it rather then 1.6. Does this mean that I can root my phone and get 2.2 on my Cricket Zio?

You will be able to root your phone sure. But theres no guarantee you can get 2.2 if someone gets ahold of the sprint os they can make a os for zio thats 2.1 or 2.2. Cricket is gonna do a release of 2.1 i know sometime early next year.

i sent an email to kyocera and they finaly replyed this is what they said,

I spoke to Cricket and the tech support MANAGER told me it would never happen and to buy a new phone. He and the assisting agent before me were very rude and basically gave me the middle finger to gfo. I call Kyocera and not only do I get an American to speak to but he tells me 2.1 is a release marked for Feb. 2011. No exact date but something to look forward to. Also he went on to tell me that if you were to get a ROM from a Sprint Zio and tried to port it over you will brick your phone. Apparently they embed the settings for the host a software level at compile. Not sure if I believe that 100%, but still food for thought.

It would be cute if the Zio got 2.1 on 2/1. I won't hold my breath, though.

You guys I think its safe to say that you Zio owners are going to be screwed on this whole update BS! Since I bought the insurance for my phone I just broke it on purpose and was able to get the Assend instead. Runs 2.1 like a dream and they state an update is on its way.

So in respect to Kyocera PISS OFF! I'm glad that I broke it and will remember to to tell other to no buy this phone!
