Help Getting acquainted with Samsung S Note

I am disillusioned by the current note-taking app. I can't do simple things with it! For instance, how do I write a phone number or a URL and then instruct the app to compose a text to that number or open the browser and load that site? I guessed, incorrectly, that Smart Select would do that.

This used to be simple, but now I no longer know how to do that, with the Note 8 and the current version of Android.

Install the action notes APK.
I have it on my N8 and is what the device should have had in the first place. Like the N7,5 etc.

Thank you, mgboss -- how do I do that? Is it in the Play Store? I do not have any experience with APKs.

APK's are what you install from the play store.
But sometimes you have to install them directly if , for example, they are not strictly for your device.

To get the N7 action notes on the N8 there are a few APK files that are required to get the appropriate framework on etc..

There are a few guides. This is the one I used.

The links to the 3 or 4 APKs are in the description.

Thank you very much. It is utterly incomprehensible to me that Samsung would remove link to action. What a step backward!

I tried to follow these instructions, installing SNote, Widget, and Templates. I am able to open SNote and operate it, but I am unable to find Link to Action anywhere on its interface. I found Action Memo at the APK Mirror site also, but when I downloaded it and attempted to install it, I received the rather generic "App not installed" error.

As disappointed as I am about this gigantic step backward on the part of Samsung, I'm not above hacking my way to a solution (I come from the DOS days, after all). But I have struck out here and need some help.

You should have an action memo app, not try and achieve through S memo.

I just watched this video, and whilst very annoying, it shows the exact steps I took.
