Getting an early upgrade? What happens when I get a 4G phone?

Everyone is probably in a frenzy to order the new Galaxy. My DX is currently in bad shape and I'm in need of a new phone.

Bad news is that my upgrade isn't due until 7/8/12. I can't wait that long. I've been a VZW customer for a very long time, have VZ home phone, internet and TV.

I was wondering if it where possible for me to get the $299 discount somehow? Anything I could say to get it? Maybe sign up for another 2 years?

Looking for any tips, I got an early upgrade before, I just called in one day and she was more than willing to help me out early.

I don't know how much longer my DX is going to last. I wanted to get a Galaxy for myself and and an iPhone my girlfriend for Christmas, you figure that they would jump on this?

One last thing... My current plan is the "NATIONWIDE TLK&TXT SHARE 1400", it was a special promotional plan a while back. I pay around $170 a month for 2 smartphones with unlimited data. If where to switch to say the Galaxy, would I lose my unlimited data or does my plan follow me wherever I go? Also, how good is my plan still? Am I still saving money or is their a plan out there better for me?

Well, I can't answer all your questions, since you need to look at your own usage patterns, for example, to determine the best plan for you. But, I can tell you that you won't lose your unlimited data when you go to a 4G phone. No one else has, so I think you're good there.

What is your annual anniversary date? Little known fact- You are actually eligible for the rebate pricing after one year. You won't get the "new every 2" discount that is applicable if you wait until the upgrade date shown on your account, however.

Also, if you want to use a 3rd party vendor, you will have to call VZW and ask them to set your account so that it shows you as eligible for your upgrade. Otherwise all Amazon or whomever sees is your "new every two" (18 month) upgrade date.

Your secondary lines are *not* eligible for a 1-year upgrade- That's a perk of the primary line. Wife will have to wait her 18 months, or whatever it is. Once she gets within a couple of months, you can call to ask for an early upgrade, and they may hook you up. They are more likely to do so if said early upgrade is going to be used right then with that VZW rep on the phone. (They are less inclined to give an EU so you can run off to Amazon and buy a phone.)

P.S.:
HTC Rezound is way better anyway, so don't worry about the Nexus. ;-)

I've been told they do not do early upgrades anymore but every CSR is different.

If you are on the promotion I think you are (1400 mins family share $10 ulimited data/line) then it is cheaper than any tiered plan unless you are going to also look into lowering your mins.

Only the primary line is eligible for a one year upgrade. I also think those are being phased out. Only those who signed a contract when the upgrade policy was still in force are eligible

They won't let you upgrade with 18 months left on a contract,Try a few weeks early and maybe. They also don't give early upgrades for the iPhone, period. Apple doesn't allow it.

Of course you can always ask, just don't get you hopes up.

If you currently have the unlimited data plan you will be able to keep this plan when upgrading to the Nexus.

You can get this phone at a discount once you become eligible to upgrade. Unfortunately, I am unable to provide early upgrades to the Nexus unless you are already eligible to upgrade.

If you want to get the Nexus at a discount price and don't want to wait until you become eligible, you can add a new line to your account and purchase the Nexus for that line. Once you activate the phone on the new line you can then switch it to your current line and activate the Droid X on the new line.

In regards to the issues with your Droid X we will be more than help to troubleshoot. What issues are you having? You can tweet us @VZWSUPPORT or contact us at 800-922-0204 for assistance.

When they gave my daughters line an early upgrade we weren't allowed to get the iphone or any 4g phones. We had about 5-6 choices for smart phones none of which were that great.

Yes, when Verizon allows (at thier discretion) and early upgrade, they sometimes won't allow an upgrade to the "Latest & greatest" (i.e. most popular) phones. If you want the "latest & greatest" you must wait for your regular upgrade period. (unless of course, you get ahold of a very friendly sales person/CSR and they're having a wonderful day..... :)

Nevermind, I got the answer somewhere else. I was looking to get the upgrade to the Nexux on my line after one year but my line isn't the primary line. Plus, early upgrades aren't allowing for the latest and greatest. Oh well, I'll wait with my Droid Charge.
