Getting around port 25 blocking - ideas?

I'm trying to use the Mail client on my Hero to send emails, but it seems that Three is blocking port 25.

I've asked my hosting company if they can allow me to use port 587, but in the meantime, does anybody know of how else I can send email from my Hero?

I don't have port blocks here but I use SSL which is port 465 on mine. I use TLS for incoming as well. Will the server accept SSL? I want my mail secure.

Funnily enough, I've only recently started to consider email security. I don't think my mail server allows me to use SSL (I've experimented with it in Outlook and it says the server doesn't support that encryption method).

What bothers me more is that Three are actively blocking a useful port on their service. Why do that when they know people will want to send emails from their phones?

You must be young.... With ~95% of all email traffic being spam and most of that coming from home computers it is no wonder that all of the ISPs don't block SMTP port 25. And then there is security, I simply won't run my email unencrypted. I can't do anything about server to server traffic other than my server will send encrypted if the other end agrees to.

Anyway, your solution is to use your local ISP (cell provider?) for outbound mail. Surely they have a mail server? Use that one for outbound and it should work. They only block ports leaving their network. Meanwhile you can ask the hosting company to support SSL.
