Help Getting Desire 510 to work with Barcode Scanner

Has anyone been successful in getting the HTC Desire 510 to work with the Barcode Scanner app? And if so what settings did you use? I've tried other scanner apps and they work fine but particularly want to use Barcode Scanner as that's the one used in the Food Planner app. Tearing my hair out!

I believe it dosent work because the HTC 510 's camera doesn't have "focus" abilities.. It doesn't have "FLASH" or "FOCUS", therefore it doesn't focus on the BAR'S in the BARCODE. I've even tried several different camera apps, even camera zoom FX, the paid for version, and it just doesn't work without the FOCUS option. WHY this phone DOESN'T have the FOCUS option, I'll never know.

Since the camera on the 510 is shit, sadly, barcode scanners are not supported. I've tryed a ton of things, but alas, no solutions.
