Getting Nigerian and uk sim to work at the same time - duo sim

Bought the phone in Nigeria. While in Nigeria I could use two sim cards from two different mobile networks at the same time (duo sim).

Upon arrival in uk my Nigerian network and uk mobile network worked for about a week together (one sim for one network) and suddenly one sim slot has shut off.

So have to manually remove each sim each time I want to call or text each country.

Please what do i need to do to have the phone continue recognizing both the UK and Nigerian sims at the same time so I can receive calls from both countries moving forward?

The thing that puzzles me is that there's no problem using a dual SIM phone in the UK (they aren't common, but people do use them). And it worked for a week anyway, so that shows it works. So what happened?

Are we certain that it's not that one of the SIM slots has failed in the phone? Since both SIMs seem to work in the other slot, this seems the most likely explanation. If it's a software problem then reflashing the phone (with the correct firmware for this precise model) should fix it. If it's a hardware problem then nothing short of a repair will do it. And the problem is that the only information we have to go on is "it stopped working", so it's very hard for us to know why it's stopped.
