Help Getting photos from my S3 to Windows XP? (via PTP...?)

Hi,

I've connected my S3 to my PC, and via MTP it brings up all of my files, but I cannot find a way to access my photos?

If I change to PTP, it shows up as a camera, but again I cannot get the photos from it - it eitehr shows up as being empty, or it completely crashes my machine.

I've downloaded and installed the Windows XP drivers for the S3 but still no joy. Any idea what's up please? This is probably the first device in 10 years that I've connected that doesn't show up properly on my machine (yes, btw this is a work machine, hence XP)

Thanks

PTP is supposed to be the way (Photo Transfer Protocol). Mine was coming up blank too. I had to switch to MTP (media Transfer protocol) and back again to pick it up.

If I connect it in MTP, I have to switch to PTP and back again too.

MTP will also show photos though. Bsically the photos are either sdcard/DCIM/Camera or phone/DCIM/Camera depending what you have set in teh camera app as the storage location.

Any chance your work has wireless access to it's network & then you could just use Kies Air or something like Airdroid to transfer the photos? Or how about making use of something like Dropbox & either set up a folder on your PC or just access Dropbox via the web & download to your computer that way? Jus ta few thoughts on workarounds. Also, you could just have your photos automatically sync to Picasa through your Google account, then download...lots of options (but depends on your work PC internet access, security settings, etc.)

Just as a final thought, my wife can't plug anything into her work laptop except an actual camera due to security measures applied by the IT gods- I wonder if this is part of the issue? Can you freely use USB drives, etc. on your work PC?

Many thanks both, I was switching between MTP and PTP endlessly and getting no where, but it's great to know I actually can access the photos from MTP! :-)

Good shout on syncing the things, I kinda do it over 3G now, but I have a really awful data allowance (only 1.5GB) so having a few photos at 3MB+ going across all the time is a real pain.
