Getting rid of games and apps

I have some games and apps that I can't get rid of and they are not in My Apps from the market list. What do I need to do to get rid of them? Do I need to do a hard reset?

It would help if you told us what phone you have, what carrier, and what apps you are talking about. If the apps came with your phone, you can't remove them without rooting first. If they are apps you downloaded, you can remove them from menu-settings-applications, or from the Market.
