getting rid of skype

Skype keeps showing up in my task killer window, but I don't ever open it, nor will I ever use it. I thought I turned off any and all ways it could open, but apparently not. I really don't want it sucking up my battery life. Any ideas?

Are you referring to the Skype Mobile app pre-installed by Verizon? If so, there is no way to deactivate it that I know of short of rooting and removing it completely.

I will say, though, that the rooting process using rEVOked was exceptionally easy and satisfying.
