gfs has same phone and works fine?

My gf has the same phone as I do (lg optimus slider) and until recently I've had no trouble.now my phone won't send texts and can't call out. Its location based because when I drove to work which is about ten miles away the phone works fine. When two phones have the same model and carrier, what could make one phone not have service? Btw I have usually 3-4 bars and can use 3g just fine. Any help is appreciated.

You can try asking VM for a replacement phone, might be a hardware problem. Or you can try factory resetting, but mostly likely, calling VM to troubleshoot your phone would yield most results.

Outages can affect phones differently in the same location. There are three Virgin Mobile phones in my house, and this spring there was a long-term voice outage that only affected one (mine).

If you call or post to Facebook or Twitter with your zip code, Virgin Mobile can confirm an outage in your area. Between standard outages/repairs and Network Vision upgrades, there are many problem areas, so it wouldn't be surprising.

Be sure to keep track of the length of any outages and confirm when they are closed so you can ask for account compensation - that's the only way they'll credit you. So far this year, I've had two months-plus worth of credit applied to my account for outages. While I'm not happy about the continued problems, I appreciate that they readily credit when asked.
