Ghost Contacts

Hi there,

Here's a Christmas brainteaser for you.

I have just spend a while on gmail, organising my contacts making sure all my numbers are in a standard format, everyone having a surname etc.

I have two gmail accounts so I can at least try to keep business away from personal.

My contacts list on my HTC looks identical to the two lists on the gmail accounts. I'm useing the HTC One M9 standard contacts app, 'People'.

Now, when I go to send a text, whether to a single person (start typing there name til i see the one i want) or a group text (contacts list pops up and I tick the ones I want) I see a load of contacts that don't appear in my phone or gmail contacts list. They are numbers I know (dont get me wrong, not getting random numbers) but they are numbers I have deleted a long time ago.

Any ideas on how to get them to stop appearing?

Cheers

Thomas

I've experienced a similar issue on my M8. The app also scans the text / phone history for the auto-complete. Are all of the "random" contacts also previous contacts?

Yes they are.

I haven't text/called those particular contacts in quite a while though.

I did think about that before so I tried deleting all my conversations and call history but no difference...

OK it looks like we're getting somewhere. The ghost contacts have gone, now all I have are my usual contacts with a few duplicates but I think i saw a thread about duplicates but I cant remember where.
