Ghost line on single account

I have a single account line with unlimited data.

Is it possible to add a ghost line to a single account [to essentially get a Galaxy S4 at a 2-year price]? Or does this method only work for family plans with unlimited data?

If this is correct: I would then move the S4 to the my existing line with unlimited data, cancel the data on the ghost line, keep the ghost line open, and pay $10/month, right?

You should be able to add a line to your current account and keep your unlimited data, you'll just move to the family version of whatever plan you're on now. The second line on a family plan costs more than $10/month because you have to move up to the base family plan charge (which I think was $20 or $30 more than the similar tier for a single line).

It's $9.99 plus fees etc for a second line and so forth excluding if there's a data plan on it.

I'm interested in how this is done exactly, I just found this forum and made a similar post. I've always had 1 line with unlimited data. And I think I get the process but I don't have a "dumb phone" to activate on the second line.
