Help Ghost Operator Question

I'm sure many of you have experienced the ghost operator as I am currently. My 1-year warranty expired in December. Will Verizon give me a replacement if I call customer support or bring it in to a retail store? Otherwise, does anyone have any suggestions on how to fix this problem?
