Help gingerbread update, is it worth it?

I just got my phone (Mytouch4g), but I was wondering if the gingerbread update
worth it? Im not really sure what it is, but please let me know.
Im scared to update, bascially I have no clue how. What should I
notice different? ​

The android version is 2.2.1.
Is my phone an old mytouch 4g?

Who is your cell service provider? Where did you get your MT4G (from provider, eBay, Craig's List, etc.)? Is your phone rooted?
T-Mobile is doing an over-the-air update to Gingerbread that should end later this month. I don't know about other providers.

Yes, the updates IS worth it. Just the battery life improvement alone is worth it.

Yes! Apps will run smoother & battery life is better. Just remember to backup your files.
