Help Gingerbread update now Gmail problems?

Even since updating to gingerbread im having trouble getting my gmail alerts.

Often I check my gmail and at the top of the gmail page it says 1 new message, refreshes itself and then the new message shows up.

I use to always get my gmail message alerts as soon as they arrived. I checked my setting and everything is set right.

I've noticed this bug in the Froyo version of Android, but I haven't seen it in the Gingerbread. It may just be a hiccup in the Gmail server. The Google Mail server could be double-pushing the same email, but since you've deleted or read the one it sent first, the second sending of the same email would still display that it is unread, but will not physically display the email as unread in your inbox.

My suggestion would be to check your push settings in your Gmail account via a computer and then see if that fixes the problem.

Otherwise, you could try unlinking your Gmail account from your phone and reastablishing it to see if it makes a better link.

Let me know what you get!

Or, you can stuff gmail all together and use K9 mail. Especially useful if you have multiple addresses you want to use on the phone.

Does K9 mail disable the push and notifications of the GMail app? If so, I may consider using it, myself.

You disable the notifications in gmail (and/or delete the account associated with it). You have control of the polling and notifications in K9, too.
