Root Gingerbread update

So I have a question about the Gingerbread update...I Just bought a Droid 2 off someone wand want to install the leaked gingerbread but I'm new to rooting.

I know theirs a guide to install gingerbread but Do I have to root first or just follow the guide? Is their any easier way to install gingerbread? thanks.

You will need to be rooted. I haven't read the guide, but I'm sure it has everything you need.
