Gingerbreak

I used to use ginger break my old phone (OV) and it worked WONDERS, I was wondering if anyone will ever develope an apk that roots HTC devices. I'm using an evo design 4G and its so difficult to root. It's taking me so long :(

Hint: it's called Gingerbreak. It worked for a series of select Android phones, and giving your current device is running Ice Cream Sandwich it's not only the wrong operating system, but the hack has since then been completely fixed (it's relatively ancient).

You'll want to check the forum for your phone. Be careful flashing by the way, if it's a kernel you won't want to flash it unless it's tailor made for the carrier you need, for example.

I'm completely aware of all of this already thank you. You miss understood what I was saying, I was wondering if there would ever be an app similar to gingerbreak for HTC devices running 4.0.

Probably not again. Rooting locked down devices gets harder as time goes on and new exploits have to be found.

With HTC, you'll always have HTC Dev
