Other than aesthetics is there any benefit to having a glass back on a phone? I would think glass would make it extra slippery to hold.

Wireless charging, that requires quite a large area on the back of the phone which can't be metal. I suspect Samsung's reasoning is that glass is more aesthetically pleasing than plastic and doesn't look so cheap on the backs of their expensive flagship devices, like S7. Many of Samsung's more lowly devices have aluminium backs, and those don't have wireless charging.It may help the manufacturer with their aerials for wifi/phone is suppose...
