The new Gmail does support other providers like Yahoo, but they wont allow conversation mode with this providers. So you see all emails one by one, kinda sucks.
Besides the bundles, done, and scheduling...why the hell did google decide to create a whole new app to confuse the masses?
Anyways, I'm going to stick with my third party email client, bluemail. It does all of the above, plus more. It only takes 2 clicks to delete email. I'm not promoting, but i'm sharing what app is better. Blue Mail
Give them a shot, seriously you will love it. It'll be more useful for people who have email accounts with different providers and like to address emails at a later time.
I don't see an advantage now that 5.0 is live.Okay, somebody please explain to me what the advantage is to using Inbox. I got an invite and tried it out on both of my gmail accounts, but I really couldn't find an advantage to using it over traditional Gmail. While it looked pretty, the new Gmail update looks just as nice, so I seriously can't figure out what the purpose of using it is, even with that little mini video Google put together.
For those of you posting that you like Inbox over traditional Gmail, would you mind letting us know exactly what you do on Inbox or what it does for you that Gmail and/or the app don't already accomplish?
That's far too complicated for email. I guess I'm old school. Email comes in. I open it and read. I then either move it to one of my many folders or to the trash. The end.Love Inbox! Organizes a lot of email as it comes in (once you set the bundle filters) and displays it in "collapsed" groups (the bundles) which is already cleaner than a chronological list of messages. Very easy to sweep junk (or fluff you know you'll not get to) to "Done" (archived.) If it's come in as part of a bundle it's "done" within the bundle (nice & organized) if not, just in the big "Done" pile (it's OUT of your inbox, but still searchable.) You can also pretty quickly mass assign emails to a bundle, but it's SUPER quick to "sweep" a group of emails to "Done."
Important messages requiring action you can snooze, or pin (with or without a reminder) until you've acted upon them, then swipe them to "Done" (within a bundle or not; up to you.)
Essentially you have all of your email, but it comes in in a more organized/consolidated way (nice!) Action items stay on top,stuff you're done with (or know you won't/don't need to get to) you can swipe done (within a bundle if it's important enough that you'll want to find/read it later without searching.)
I sent ALL my messages 4+ months old to done (remember, they're still available if I need them) and sorted the more recent either into appropriate bundles or to "done".
Now my inbox has only action items and things that I honestly know I'll read.
I have all my email, but only have to LOOK at the ones I need. And pinning/snoozing/reminders are great for action items (as opposed to setting a reminder in another app.)
If that sounds like something you'd like, seriously give it a shot. I honestly will never go back (I'm a fairly heavy email user, & have loved gmail since 2007).
Using both atm but pretty sure I'll eventually use inbox only. The way I use gmail is basically what inbox became. I have a lot of folders separating things and making messages as unread as reminders. It gets a little cumbersome. I love that on inbox I can just mark the message for reminder later. I also like how things are arranged with semi preview etc. But I can also see people who wants to know where every single message is would have an issue with inbox. You have to allow inbox more control over your mail and be confident that it will redisplay things later. Control freaks will hate it. People who hated gmails shift to threading mail will find this even more confusing while people who understands the theory behind it will embrace it quickly.
