Gmail and Mail Apps conflicting

Hey guys I'm new to this forum. All things aside, I have one situation that I'd like to deal with.

I just bought an Incredible 2 (my first android phone), and I have set up both the gmail and mail apps. I'd like to streamline and use just the mail app, but I can't seem to stop the gmail app from sending me notifications. BTW, I only have one email account.

Did you try unchecking the "Enable email notification" setting in the Gmail app?

Stupid question, but why do you want the normal mail app to even be set to your GMail account when you're using the GMail app for that? Just go to the normal mail app and press "Menu". You'll be able to remove your account from the mail app (and ONLY from the mail app) from there.
